Ion Trios are a new concept which explains ion specific interactions in aqueous solutions. Details are given in the paper: ACS Omega. 2024, 9, 46373 (details). Programs are now available for modelling mixtures of two strong electrolytes with a common ion. The significance is that, for the first time, trace activity coefficients of reactive species in solutions with a predominant background electrolyte can be accurately quantified.
